Winter in the most quiet and peaceful season in Verzasca. The weather is mostly sunny, although a few degrees colder than Locarno. It is a season for those who enjoy the nature in its purest form, there are almost no tourists and a part of the local population is also gone until spring. The upper part of the valley usually has lots of snow throughout the whole winter which gives many possibilities for active recreation. Some of the rustici are available for rental during the winter months. Please consult the accommodation search.

Ice skating
Located at the end of the valley in Sonogno. The ice skating ring is open from autumn till spring. You can get a seasonal ticket for CHF 150 (adults). A single entry costs CHF 6 per day. Rental of skates costs CHF 5. It is possible to reserve the whole ring for an event.

Cross country skiing
The nordic (cross country) skiing trail has the total length of 7.5km but often only some sections are open and maintained. The start point is in Sonogno, across the street from the parking. The ski trail is prepared for both classic and skating styles. Because of the relatively low altitude of the piste, the snow conditions are not always perfect, make sure you check the current piste status here.

The trail itself is beautiful, you can enjoy the feeling of total tranquility all along the fascinating Val Redorta. Most of the trail is easy (there's an exciting difficult section as well but you may skip it, watch for the signs) but still a few turns come right after a hill and can be tricky especially with very hard snow. You can get a season pass for CHF 50 or pay the day fee of CHF 5 at the parking (using the parking payment machine). It's also possible to rent the equipment. Please call for the details.
